My selected memory verse for 2017 is Jeremiah 26:14.
As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right.
How I wish I could testify that my life, as a Pastor, called into ministry, is without stress and  trials. That thought is so far from reality I want to laugh but I should be weeping. I am not saying I am caught up in some evil sin but I am saying that this Pastor is not perfect. He struggles with fears, emotions and misplaced wisdom. Your Pastor struggles letting God be Lord over all of his life. I cannot speak for any other Pastor but I can speak for this one. I am not perfect. I can put a smile on my face when I really want to scream help. I can make decisions without seeking God's counsel. I am not trying to paint a picture of an evil person wanting to be a Pastor but this I do know... I am a saved forever child of God who lives in the same world as those I am called to love and lead. I say stupid things. I hurt the feelings of others more often than I should. I can walk by someone and not recognize they are present. I can be so deep in thought on one thing that I miss the important thing right in front of me. This is why I need God's Word in my life on a daily basis. This is why I chose the above verse to be my verse for 2017. Pray for me that I can fulfill the needed truth of the Jeremiah 26:14 passage.

Let me give you a challenge. Will you seek God for a verse of scripture to be your 2017 memory verse? Will you then take that verse and share it with us through your social media account (Facebook - Twitter - Instagram...). Let us know what God is showing you or what God is asking of you for this new year. What this does is give us a specific way to pray for you this year and ways to specifically encourage you.

The theme God has placed upon my heart to lead the church in thought and practice for 2017 is “I Surrender”. I introduced this theme in last Friday's message. This concept, when taken to its most extreme conclusion, can be very terrifying. Rest assured, God is not in the business of terrifying you in His instructions for life but He is interested in working in you to accomplish through you what only He can do. When that happens, blessings are are sure to be present and praise is quick to follow.

As one born and raised in the USA…being male… being involved in sports… learning to be competitive early on… I struggle with such a term. I was taught early on – No Surrender – No Retreat – Take no prisoners… This mindset has its place in life (maybe) but its antithesis needs to have a place in the believer's life (absolutely).

I am exited about growing with you in 2017 as we individually and corporately surrender our lives, ministrues, church, services, leadership... to God Almighty.

The idea of surrender may be the “New Thing” some have been looking for in 2016. For others it may be an added “New Thing” to all we are praising God for already. Regardless, it is God’s call upon our lives to focus on in 2016. I do know this: It is a primary component to the vision God has given us to reach the nations.

The ppt slide is a reminder of God bringing the nations to Dubai to form a gathered body of Christ we know as EBCI. It is also a call to recognize that this body of believers known as EBCI is to be trained in being disciples so we can go back to our nations to make disciples there. Isaiah 49:6 is our foundation for this vision.

He says, “It is not enough for you to be My Servant raising up the tribes of Jacob and restoring the protected ones of Israel. I will also make you a light for the nations, to be My salvation to the ends of the earth.”

God is speaking about some things and I covet your prayers as we step into 2017 together. Let us have no fear in following God as we are totally surrendered to Him and His ways for our lives.
