Holy Week Day 1 - Sunday

DAY 1 of Holy Week

Today around the world for Christians, this day is known as Palm Sunday. The beginning of the week where Jesus would be betrayed, arrested, falsely accused, found guilty in a mock court where those He loved most would cheer... "Crucify Him, Crucify Him...". Yet, the events of this day were spoken many years prior.

Long before Jesus rode into Jerusalem with the crowds praising Him and less than a week before the world crucified Him the following words were penned.
Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!    Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!See, your king comes to you,    righteous and victorious,
lowly and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.- Zechariah 9:9
One thing this OT prophecy confirms for us is that the events of this week were well planned in advance by Someone who could for those who needed these events to occur.

Luke 19 tells this story fully. Let me speak today to the part of the story found in vv. 41-42. In these two verses we see that as Jesus was approaching the city of Jerusalem, Jesus broke down and wept. He wept because they did not see Him as the Father's gift to them for peace. He understood, not only what they lacked but what they were missing. Something which was freely being given. Something from heaven to them, though they did not deserve any of it.

Take time today to:

Thank God for what He did for you through the cross.
Thank God for coming as He did so that we could be forgiven and receive everlasting life.
Thank God for the church family He has blessed you with.
Thank God for tor the daily blessings we often take for granted.
Thank God you have been forgiven and find ways to forgive others.
Thank God for someone else in your life - and let them know how thankful you are.

As I spoke of from Jeremiah 20:11 when the Prophet said... the Lord is with me... - This is not about God showing up where Jeremiah happened to be, rather Jeremiah being where God wanted Him and God showing Himself to Jeremiah while he did the ministry he was called to do. Again, God proved we were at the right place at the right time listening to the right Word (His) and finding blessings and stretching from it. It does not get any better than that.

Thank you to all who were with us and for those who missed - we missed you. Please hurry back. Your presence is always an encouragement to the body.

I am so looking forward to next Friday... Saturday.... Sunday... I do think it will be a busy but blessed weekend.
