Sunday's Sound Bites

There are only a few things that actually scare me. 1) I fear to have my fingers cut off. That may sound weird and I really don't know where it came from... nonetheless - I fear that. 2) Messing up, teaching or preaching. I understand the great importance of getting God's truth communicated correctly. The people need to hear Him in Truth, not me in error. I covet your prayers as I am, by His calling on my life, put in a spotlight to deliver truth without error. Pray that I come before you as Paul did in his letter to the Corinthian church...
1 Corinthians 2:1 - When I came to you, brothers, announcing the testimony of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom.
Yeah - that describes me.

At the end of our Friday Bible Study, my phone light lit up with a notification. As soon as I had a moment, I looked to see what was being sent. It was a message from our oldest son Chad. He was letting us know that Amanda's (his wife) mom Anne passed away. I immediately handed the phone to Pamela to let her read it also. Her facial expressions of shock... sadness... concern for Amanda and our grandchildren was evident of the weight of this news.

Anne was more than my son's mother-in-law. She was a friend of ours and had I had been their pastor for a time many years ago. Anne had the heart of a servant and loved to dote on people through helping them. We knew Anne and her husband Gene well. I remember baptizing Gene in the cold of winter and the heater on the baptistry did not work. We say goodbye to Anne, knowing we will see her again in glory.

I always admired Amanda's deep connection with her mom. They talked almost daily - if not daily. I thank God for this sweet relationship she had with her mom. Please pray for Amanda as she faces this reality. I thank God that our grandchildren had Anne in their lives while we lived on the other side of the globe. Our grandchildren are better off having Anne there on a somewhat regular basis. Thank you, Anne, for loving your and our GKids the way you did.

Monday's LifeGroup Topic

We will be continuing our study in Daniel on Monday. We will begin in chapter 3. This is an amazing chapter with so much story impact, I hope all who can join us... will.

We will be digging into the history of this chapter and discover many truths to help us be all God wants us to be... nothing more... nothing less.

The three young men and their obedience to God - even when it meant disobedience to the to commands of the societal authority teaches us an important lesson on making our priorities... biblical priorities.

LifeGroups are available in different areas around Dubai. We have some homes who want to host LG's but we need leaders and commitment from EBCIers in those communities to be a part of these times. I am convinced that as much as these lifeGroups need you... You need them.

Come and do life together in an EBCI LifeGroup.

I am praying we all adopt a "NO EXCUSE" personal policy when it comes to growing in Christ with our church family.

If there is any way I can help or minister to you, please let me know. You are important to me. Just don't ask me to do anything where I might have my fingers cut off and we will be good.

LETTING YOU KNOW... I will pick up my ministry journey stories in the next blog.

Until then...
