It was mid-February and we were given the instruction that we would have to relocate to DECC. We never saw it coming. It would be a fair assessment to say we were unprepared. There was nothing on our radar that even considered such could happen. This is a reality of life.

Here we are 4+ months later and we are still not settled. It is hard to take a 22 year-old church that has an effective and active ministry and begin living like a church plant with no place to call home... living out of the back of church members autos with what we need on Saturday to worship... packing everything back up and waiting until the next week to do it all over again.

Please do not read this as a complaint but as a reality of where we are in this shifting journey.

We may have been unprepared for the initial mandate to relocate but we do not have to be unprepared for whatever decision is made next. Your church (EBCI) needs you to help in the preparation and help in the follow through to whatever decision is given.

We need to be prepared to:

  • Strategize and implement organizational procedures for remaining at DECC (we have such organization in place for the villa occupancy)
  • Be ready to volunteer for the work that will need to be done and follow through in ways that build us together
  • Help develop a marketing strategy that highlights the Great God we serve and the joy and benefit of meeting on Saturday with EBCI
  • Step up / volunteer
  • Step in / get to work
  • Step out / invite others to be a part of what God is doing at EBCI
The proper authorities have the required documents and we are praying for an opportunity to meet with them and present our case. I need you to commit to pray that God will do in front of us something so great we can only give Him the credit. No matter the end result, God is still God, He is still on His throne, we are still His people, and we still have a purpose bigger than ourselves to live for.

Until things change in relation to where we meet, we must still remain faithful to our call to be His this time... for His glory.

This is a contest for those who live in Dubai but for those who like a challenge and are artistic outside the UAE, you can submit something for consideration. The prize is available for locals only.

Due to the multiple ways this letter gets sent out (about 5 times a week), I want to create a banner to be used as a recognizable header. I redid the one from the other day and it is better but not quite there yet. SO...

The contest is for those who wish to submit a new header to be judged and used for my almost daily publication. Credit will be given to the winner with a tag saying, Designed by _______ and the winner will win the grand, and only, prize... a Study Bible, journal, and very nice writing pen. The deadline for submitting your design will be July 19. I will judge the entries. I will have the Grand and only prize on display the first Saturday in July at the church service.

  • One submission per person
  • Meet the deadline
  • All questions about the contest must be submitted to me in writing

The contest is active...

Have you ever asked yourself, or others, a question which began with those two words? WHAT IF?

I am sure we all have had moments in our life where we asked this probing question to ourselves. It is a good question. It can be a question we use as a crutch when we fear something.

Here are few "What If's" that I read recently which I found interesting.

1 - One day Google was deleted and we couldn't Google what happened to Google?

2 - The Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

3 - We woke up today with only the things we thanked God for yesterday?

I could probably dig out a few more but I want to get to the meat of this post,

On a more personal level... WHAT IF...

  • EBCI is being honed by God as we journey through this time of uncertainty so that He can chip away those things we hold dear, so we would have to trust Him more?
  • All of this is happening to call each of us out to a greater role of service in His church?
  • We miss what God is wanting to do?
  • We catch what God is doing?
This is endless and we do not need to chase every thought this brings. Let us at least ask...

What if... I surrendered my all to God, would I be a better person for doing so?

Then ask... How so?
